Biblos 5.86

Update of 05/20/2025

- The new Braille Bar is now available. This tool enhances the document with real-time visualization of the braille transcription of the text. It can be activated from the View menu. The Braille Bar is fully interactive: it follows the position of the text cursor, displays the braille cells exactly as they appear on the braille display used by blind users, and allows direct interaction with the cells to reposition the cursor on the corresponding text character. The cell size can be customized for improved readability. The Braille Bar appears at the bottom of the window, between the document and the status bar. This tool is essential for braille teaching, as well as for teachers, transcribers, and professionals who need to verify the accuracy of the braille transcription. A dedicated chapter with more information is available in the manual.

- A new configuration window is available for the braille content sent to the screen reader. It includes all settings related to the braille display and is located under “Tools/Braille/Braille output...”. These settings are also required for the new Braille Bar.

- The “Braille output” option has been removed from the Advanced section of the Braille Settings menu. This option has been moved to the Braille Output window.

- The Braille output window now contains all braille-related options that were previously controlled through the screen reader (JAWS or NVDA).

- New JAWS scripts are available, with a complete overhaul of braille management to ensure improved stability and performance in accordance with the new system. Users of a braille display must install these new scripts.

- A new NVDA addon is also available. The braille support has been optimized and streamlined, and three braille-related options have been removed. Braille display users are encouraged to reinstall this addon. Compatibility with NVDA 2025.1 has been tested and fine-tuned.

- Bug fixes.
