Biblos - The Accessible Word Processor

Biblos main window

Biblos is an accessible word processor with specialized features for printing electronic documents in braille, creating and printing tactile graphics, producing audiobooks, studying Ancient Greek, scanning paper documents, editing text, and much more. It is Windows software used in more than 120 countries around the world by individuals, students, teachers, schools, and organizations.

Biblos was conceived and developed by Giuseppe Di Grande, a programmer with 40 years of experience in computer science and software development. It is a copyrighted intellectual work deposited and registered with SIAE for copyright protection. Its author - now blind - has incorporated a deep understanding of the needs of people with visual impairments throughout the software's development, making Biblos fully accessible.

The user interface is designed to be usable by everyone, including blind people. It provides a friendly and customizable working environment. It supports the most common electronic document formats. It offers word-processing features such as fonts, paragraph formatting, bulleted and numbered lists, tables, images, notes, and more. It also includes tools for spelling analysis and correction. Users can open, write, and print texts in Ancient Greek and Latin. It also supports braille printing of mathematical content.

Biblos uses modern text-to-speech technologies to convert documents into MP3 and DAISY audiobooks. It can scan and recognize text from paper documents using an advanced OCR engine. It is the first Italian Windows software for braille printing and the world's first accessible software for people with visual impairments to provide a complete graphics environment: it allows users to create and print 2D tactile graphics and model 3D objects using a powerful vector-based language and tools that can be operated with a mouse and keyboard.

Biblos runs on Microsoft Windows systems, from Windows 7 through the current Windows 11, and is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. It is designed to support individuals, professionals, organizations, and institutions in writing, studying, document production, and digital accessibility, adapting to the needs of both beginners and experienced users. It is used in personal, educational, training, and professional settings, providing advanced tools for managing accessible documents and braille.

Professional use of Biblos is governed by specific licenses. Visit the Iblaris website, the software's official distributor, to learn more about the available licensing options and services for professionals and organizations. https://iblaris.com

Biblos in the classroom Biblos and education
Utilizzo Biblos da quando è uscito, praticamente da sempre. Io ho provato diverse applicazioni che convertono il testo in audio, però nessuna era così funzionale come questa. La trovo un'applicazione straordinaria.
