Toolbars
Toolbars are organized sets of commands that allow you to quickly perform frequent actions without opening menus.
In a word processor like Biblos, toolbars are designed to speed up tasks such as creating, formatting, managing objects, and improving accessibility by providing direct access to the most commonly used commands.
Biblos offers several toolbars, each grouped by topic or functionality.
All toolbars can be activated, but only up to five can be visible at the same time.
This limitation is intentional, to keep the interface clean and accessible.
To manage toolbars:
1. Open View / Toolbars / Customize...
2. In the window that opens, you can add, remove, customize, enable, or disable toolbars.
3. In the same window, you can reorder the visible toolbars (for example, using the Move Up / Move Down buttons, or the commands provided by the interface).
The order of visible toolbars determines which one is considered the first, second, and so on.
If a toolbar cannot display all its buttons (due to window width or the number of items), a small arrow appears at the end of the toolbar.
Clicking the arrow opens a popup menu containing the overflow commands.
Biblos is designed to ensure accessibility for blind users as well.
The five active toolbars can be quickly accessed through sequential keyboard shortcuts: ALT+1 to ALT+5.
These key combinations open the popup menu of the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth active toolbar, following the display order (from top to bottom, as defined in the customization window).
The assignment is therefore not tied to specific toolbar names but follows the current order of visible toolbars.
Pressing ALT+n (where n is 1–5) opens the popup menu with all the commands of that toolbar. Focus is automatically placed on the first item in the popup.
It is recommended to arrange your preferred toolbars in the customization window so that the most frequently used ones correspond to ALT+1–ALT+5.
This minimizes the need for complex key combinations and provides faster access to your favorite commands.
