Options- General tab

This panel contains all the general settings for Biblos.

- Interface Language: A dropdown menu to select the user interface language of Biblos. Languages other than Italian, English, and Spanish are maintained by Biblos contributors. Anyone interested in translating Biblos into other languages can contact Giuseppe Di Grande through the Contact page on the website. Biblos translations are done using the Biblos Interface Editor software.

- Information: A button that displays details about the selected language.

- Automatic Backups: A field to choose whether to create one or more backup copies when saving a document. Backups allow you to keep a version history of a document, also as a precautionary measure. To disable automatic backups, set the value to 0.

- File History: A field to define the number of recent documents shown in the File/Reopen submenu. To disable this feature, set the value to 0.

- Search History: A field to set the size of the search history used by the Find and Find and Replace features. The history can be disabled by setting the value to 0.

- Image Format: A dropdown to choose the format of images inserted into documents. Available formats are JPEG, BITMAP, and PNG. JPEG and PNG are compressed formats. Using compressed formats results in smaller file sizes. The default format is JPEG.

- Open Last File on Startup: When enabled, Biblos automatically reopens the last loaded document at startup. If enabled but you wish to open a new document instead, you can start Biblos while holding the Shift key. If disabled, Biblos always opens with a new blank document.

- Allow Opening the Same Document Multiple Times: When enabled, a document already opened can be reopened in a new window. If disabled, a document can only be opened once; attempting to reopen it brings the existing window to the foreground.

- Always Save to Documents Folder: When enabled, the default folder for saving new files will always be the user's personal Documents folder.

- Hide Unfocused Documents: When enabled, background document windows are automatically hidden. This option helps reduce clutter on the desktop from multiple open documents.

- Automatically Add Bookmarks: When enabled, Biblos remembers the cursor position in a document and restores it when reopening the file. Bookmarks are remembered for 180 days from the last time the document was used.
