Font Type

This window allows you to manage the font applied to the text at the cursor or to the selected portion of text. Choosing a font is one of the fundamental operations in word processing to make the text of your documents aesthetically pleasing.

The font selection dialog contains the following fields:

• Font: This box lists all the fonts installed on the system. You can select a font from the list or type the name of the desired font.

• Style: This box contains the available styles for the selected font. You can choose from Normal, Italic, Bold, and Bold-Italic.

• Size: From this box, you can select or type the font size in points for displaying the text.

• Strikethrough: When this box is checked, the text is displayed with a horizontal line through its center.

• Underline: When this box is checked, the text is underlined with a horizontal line at the bottom. Enabling underline also activates the next box, allowing you to choose the type of underline to apply.

• Color: Opens a dialog to select text and background colors.

• Position: This box lets you choose the vertical position of the text. "Normal" displays the font normally. "Superscript" displays the text in the upper position, reducing its size. "Subscript" displays the text in the lower position, also reducing its size.

• Spacing: This box allows you to select the horizontal spacing between characters. Horizontal spacing is preserved when printing in Braille. If the Braille measurement unit is activated, you can choose how many cells to space the characters horizontally.

• Character Map: When a font is selected, this field displays all the glyphs contained in it. You can also copy a character to the clipboard using Ctrl+C or the corresponding context menu option. The copied character can then be pasted into the document.

• Default: Checking this box sets the current font as the default font. The default font will be used in all subsequent Biblos sessions. To remove the default font, click this box while holding the Ctrl key. If this box is green, it means settings were previously assigned; if it is black, no default is set.

• OK: Button to confirm the font selection. The font is applied to the document, optionally to the selected text.

• Cancel: Button to return to the original document without confirming the selection.

The font window also appears in other sections of the program. In some cases, not all fields described above are available.

Style, effects, position, and spacing are font attributes that can also be considered and reproduced when printing the document in Braille.
