Scanner settings

Biblos uses scanner peripherals to capture images. The technologies used are WIA 2.0 (Windows Image Acquisition) and Twain. The Scanner Settings window allows you to configure the device from which you want to scan images.

- Scanner Device - this box shows the scanner devices in your system. Only powered on scanners are shown, so you need to power on the scanner you want to configure before making the settings;

- Scan Area - box showing a list of predefined scan formats. If you choose the custom size, another four fields are activated in which you can manually enter the size of the acquisition area;

- Custom Size: four fields that are activated if you choose the custom scan area. The four fields correspond to the sides of the image to be captured;

- Quality type: resolution with which to carry out the acquisition. The box shows some default resolutions. The higher the value, the better the quality of the scanned image will be. Resolution is expressed in DPI (Dot Per Inches);

- Color Type: The box where you choose whether to capture color, gray, or black and white images;

- Brightness: Box to increase or decrease the acquisition brightness. Values are expressed as a percentage and range from 100 to -100. The brightness is adjusted directly by the scanner device;

- Contrast: Box to increase or decrease the acquisition contrast. Values are expressed as a percentage and range from 100 to -100. Contrast is adjusted directly from the scanner device;

- Highlight Dark - check box to highlight the dark colors of the scanned image. Values are expressed as a percentage and range from 0 to 100. Highlighting is applied via software, so it does not depend on the scanner device;

- Highlight Light: This highlights the light colors of the scanned image. Values are expressed as a percentage and range from 0 to 100. Highlighting is applied via software, so it does not depend on the scanner device;

- Rotation - check box to choose whether to rotate the scanned image. The rotation is always clockwise. Rotation is applied via software, so it does not depend on the scanner device.
